I can't believe that it's been a full 20 years since Jim Henson died. Now, I feel like I'm getting old. Just damn.
Twenty years have passed since Muppets mastermind Jim Henson passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53. The sudden and tragic death of the man who brought an immeasurable amount of joy to children and adults alike with his fuzzy, booglie-eyed creatures shocked fans around the world. In the two decades since his Earthly exit, the Muppets continued dancing and singing, albeit with a few bumps in the road —The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz, anyone? — but, with a new movie due out next year and a handful of viral video hits on YouTube, it seems Henson’s legacy will live on for many years to come.
Sure, this Muppets fanatic could babble on forever about the incredible talent of the incomparable Jim Henson, but it seems more fitting to honor Henson's memory with clips showcasing his iconic puppet creations. Scroll down for footage from Henson’s tear-jerking memorial service too.
